Water policy pioneer and environmental activist Dorothy Green passed away at her home on October 13, 2008, at the age of 79.
In 1985, Ms. Green established the well respected organization, Heal the Bay. She was also the founder of the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers Watershed Council and the California Water Impact Network (C-WIN).
In 2006, Ms. Green was recognized with the Water Replenishment District Women of Water Award. This prestigious award was given to honor Ms. Green's pioneering efforts to protect the watersheds of the Los Angeles and San Gabriel Rivers, as well as for her advocacy for the increased use of recycled water.
Dorothy Green will long be remembered as a leading environmentalist whose grass-roots efforts will continue to have a major positive impact on water protection laws in California for generations to come.
