Tom Knoell
Tom Knoell is the Water Operations Superintendent for the Water Replenishment District where he oversees the water treatment facilities and infrastructure. Prior to joining WRD, Mr. Knoell was employed at the Orange County Water District, where he worked in the water quality, research and operations divisions, including managing the Engineering Research Center – a facility dedicated to evaluating membrane technologies which ultimately resulted in the design, construction, operation and optimization of the Orange County’s 100mgd advanced water treatment facility.
Mr. Knoell also worked as the Director of Water Technology for a water infrastructure company, where he assisted clients in infrastructure design, operations, and management. In total, Mr. Knoell brings nearly 30 years of experience as a water treatment professional to the District.
Mr. Knoell has a master’s degree in Environmental Management and is the past President of the Southwest Membrane Operator Association – an association devoted to the advancement of the water treatment operator in the southwest United States. Mr. Knoell is a certified water quality analyst, holds water, wastewater and distribution certifications with the State of California Water Resources Control Board, and is a certified environmental scientist with the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientist.
